2023-2024 Nagano Hakuba Ski Resort / Slope Opening Information

Hakuba Village, located at the foot of the Northern Alps, is covered in snow from late November to March. The season for skiing and snowboarding fans is almost here. If you're interested, you should first check the opening times for the slopes! In this article, we will introduce information about each ski resort in the Hakuba area of Nagano Prefecture, such as Happo-one Ski Resort and Goryu Ski Resort, as well as the reasons for their popularity and their appeal, along with recommendations from our staff!

Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field

" Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort " has recently become known on social media as "the swing with the most spectacular views." You can enjoy the beautiful seasonal scenery of the Hakuba Sanzan mountains (Hakuba-dake, Shakushi-dake, and Hakuba-yari-ga-take), including the fresh greenery, the three-tiered autumn foliage, and the silvery white mountains. The ski resort here, "Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field," has a variety of natural terrain courses, a new kids' park at the foot of the mountain, and plenty of cafes and restaurants, so it can be enjoyed by a wide range of people of all levels.

This is the closest ski resort to our hotel, and the access from the parking lot to the lifts and gondolas is excellent. Even if you don't ski, you can go to the top of the mountain and enjoy a leisurely lunch while looking at the 360 degree panoramic view, and you'll feel like you're skiing!

Hakuba Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort

Boasting one of the largest slopes in the Hakuba area , Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort has 10 courses, of which nearly 50% are beginner courses, making it popular with beginners and families. After taking a lecture, you can also try out the ungroomed snow area called "TSUGAIKE POWDER DBD."

By the way, Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort is also a 10-minute drive from our hotel. It's very easy to get to. The course is wide and has gentle slopes, making it perfect for practice. There are also moguls on the steep slopes, so it's recommended for advanced skiers too.

Hakuba Happoone Ski Resort

" Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort " was the venue for the 1998 Nagano Olympics downhill skiing event, and is a world-renowned powder snow slope. If you head to the summit first thing in the morning, you can enjoy fluffy powder snow. There are a wide variety of courses, and if you have the stamina, you can play there for a whole day.

Although it has a strong image of being for advanced skiers, there are slopes such as the Nakiyama and Sakka slopes that are recommended for beginners, and there are also plenty of ski lessons (available in English), so even beginners can ski with confidence.

Able Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park

Able Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park is a little far from our hotel, but it is located at the gateway to Hakuba Village, making it a great place to visit. Many skiers from overseas visit here. You can travel between the two ski resorts and the park. There are a total of 24 courses, 14 lifts, and two gondolas, so beginners and advanced skiers alike can have fun without getting bored. The park also has top-class items such as half pipes and kickers, so it's fun just to go and watch the people hopping around.

Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort

Located right in front of the slopes, the hotel building has a red roof and looks like a European castle, making you feel like you're traveling abroad. Also, as it is located at the northernmost tip of the Hakuba area, it is highly rated for its abundant snowfall and good snow quality. If you want to enjoy powder snow that is not packed down and is suitable for advanced skiers, this is the place to go. Of course, Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort is also popular with families, as it is packed with snow activities for small children and snow country experiences that make use of nature.

Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort

" Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort " is also located in Otari Village. It is less crowded than Happo-one and Tsugaike, and has many wide runs that you can ski on without worrying about your surroundings, making it perfect for practice. This is a hidden gem of a ski resort in the Hakuba area. It is famous for its powder snow, but don't worry, there are also slopes that are easy for beginners.

Also, because it is located inland and at a high altitude, you can enjoy powder snow that is almost dry. Warming up in a hot spring right after skiing is one of the best things about winter.

The Hakuba area is home to some of the best ski resorts in Japan, but also has slopes that are never crowded, so anyone from beginners to advanced skiers can enjoy themselves to the fullest. You can also enjoy ski food and spectacular views, which makes you excited just thinking about it.
